Christy is the daughter of David and Patty Calderwood of Traer in Tama County. She is a sophomore at Iowa State University and is majoring in agricultural studies. Christy hopes for a career in the pork industry and an eventual return to the farm after graduation. Emily is the daughter of Paul and Charlotte Cook of Hubbard in Hardin County. A senior at South Hardin High School, Emily plans to attend Iowa State University next fall. She wants to major in both agriculture business and international agriculture. Cook’s goal is to travel abroad to teach agriculture and eventually return to the family farm. The new youth ambassador also attends Iowa State University. Alex is a sophomore pursuing a double major in animal science and public service and administration in agriculture. He plans to advocate for the swine industry upon graduation. alex is the son of Burdette Conover of Holstein in Iowa County

Iowa Pork Queen
The Iowa Pork Producers Association selects an Iowa Pork Queen and Iowa Pork Princess annually to assist with state pork promotional and educational activities.  The Queen contest is open to anyone who is involved in the pork industry or the daughter of a parent or guardian involved in the pork industry; is passionate about the Iowa pork industry; and is a high school senior to age 20.The competition is held annually during the Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines in January. The 2016 Iowa Pork Queen contest will be held at the Des Moines Downtown Marriott and the Iowa Events Center on Jan. 27 and 28.

Iowa Premier Pork Youth Ambassador
The Iowa Pork Producers Association selects an Iowa Premier Pork Youth Ambassador each year to assist with state pork promotional and educational activities. The Youth Ambassador contest is open to anyone who is involved in the pork industry or the son/daughter of a parent or guardian involved in the pork industry; is passionate about the Iowa pork industry; and is a high school senior to age 20. The Iowa Premier Pork Youth Ambassador competition is held annually during the Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines in January.
