2006 Iowa Purebred Swine Council Scholarship Winners

Two $1,500 scholarships were awarded this year.

Matthew Rohrig

A transfer from Kirkwood Community College to Iowa State with a major in animal science and agricultural business, Matt has jumped right in to major activities. He is serving as senior ag council representative for Block and Bridle, co-chair of the annual spring barrow show, chairman of the club pig sale and instrumental in rejuvenating the Block and Bridle club yearbook. He is a member of the Iowa State University Livestock Judging team and works at the Iowa State University swine teaching farm. After graduation, he hopes to continue to develop and expand his purebred Yorkshire and crossbred show pig herds.
Rachelle Coppock
Marshalltown
Parents: Randy and Tina Coppock

Numerous academic honors were awarded to Rachelle when she graduated from East Marshall High school. Among the awards are National Honor Society, Honor Roll and Who's Who in High School Academics. She also participated in various sports activities and church youth group. She was the Marshall County pork queen and has been a pork youth ambassador since 2001. Through 4-H, Rachelle has exhibited swine since 1995 and has received numerous awards. She has also shown Yorkshires in the open swine division at the Iowa State Fair. Rachelle is enrolled at Iowa State University in animal science/business.
