County pork producer groups
County Highlights continually participate in and contribute to
programs that make their community a better place to live. Whether
it's a local fundraiser for a new library or playground equipment,
donating hams for less fortunate families or grilling for every
school district in their county, pork producers are pitching
in and helping out, because it's all part of being a good neighbor.
"Taking an active part
in the community, and showing pride in farming is a big part
of positive public relations for the livestock industry in Iowa,"
said Curtis Meier, chair of the IPPA Public Relations Committee.
"I'm proud of our county organizations and their longtime
tradition and commitment to helping others and supporting community
programs." Meier also added that many of the county-sponsored
events support local radio, newspaper and TV stations with advertising
dollars that stay in the community.
This tour will display just
a few of the county events, sponsorships and programs that are
planned and paid for by volunteer county pork producer groups.
Many of the events are cost-shared
by the IPPA through the County Coop Program, which is funded
by Pork Checkoff dollars. Magazines to come will continually
feature more county activities and the producer members involved.
The IPPA would like to thank
producer members for their hard work and dedication to not only
promoting pork to consumers, but also putting a face on local
livestock farmers. For more information on the County Coop Program,
or for ideas for your county, please contact the state office
