We have to ask...where does the manure go?
The floor of the hog house is made from cement slats. The manure falls through the slats where it is collected beneath the building in concrete pits. This allows the farmers to store the manure and apply it to fields fewer times throughout the year, and when the weather conditions are most appropriate. The concrete pits also drastically reduce odors by containing it under the building.
