 Pork producers were
on hand in Chicago to cheer racecar driver Frank Kimmel to victory
as he won the race in his "Pork. The Other White Meat"
sponsored car. Sponsored by America's Pork Producers and Advanced
Auto Parts, Kimmel is the current points leader in the ARCA series.
Fourteen Iowa producers fired up Chicago area
consumers by promoting pork in Meijer Food Stores, one of Chicago's
largest retail chains. "Supporting every ARCA race is a
retail promotion with a major grocery store chain. During these
promotions, producers split up and try to cover as many stores
as possible," said Becker. "Producers enjoy grilling
at the stores, it gives them a chance to interact with consumers
and talk about their own operations in Iowa." Enforcing
their messages are in-store specials, coupons, radio advertisements
and print ads driving consumers to the meatcase.
This is the fourth year that America's Pork
Producers have sponsored car #46, driven by racing veteran Frank
Kimmel and owned by Larry Clement of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Designated
as the official meat of the ARCA RE/MAX Series, "Pork. The
Other White Meat." has become one of the most popular racing
sponsors in the ARCA Series.
Every race weekend, pork producers from around
the country join the National Pork Board and championship ARCA
driver Kimmel at the track to show their support for the team.
The champion in the 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons, Kimmel
and the National Pork Board are poised to take on a new season
and the challenge of a fifth championship.
Producers are also invited to grill pork at
the track the morning of the race. Producers usually serve over
1000 sandwiches to drivers, pit crews, ARCA officials and media
in the "garage" area of the track.
