The Iowa Pork Producers Association is continually reminding consumers to purchase pork through numerous media campaigns, advertising buys and partnerships with Iowa retailers. IPPA pork promotions are determined by a 20-member producer committee and funded by the Pork Checkoff. Read on for the highlights of our summer promotions!

Throughout this summer, consumers in major markets will be encouraged to buy pork as they tune in to their radios. Through a radio buy coordinated by the IPPA Promotion Committee, pork ads will air on twenty radio stations across Iowa. "We hope the ads will catch the attention of busy consumers and remind them of pork this summer," said Sam Carney, chair of the IPPA Promotion Committee. "The radio ads will compliment other promotional efforts throughout the state."

Advertisements will be heard in the following markets:
Quad Cities -- KCCQ-FM, KMXG-FM,
WLLR-AM, KORB-FM
Cedar Rapids/Waterloo --
KOEL-FM; KOKZ-FM,
KDAT-FM, KZIA-FM, WMT-AM
Des Moines -- KIOA-FM, KJJY-FM,
KHKI-FM, KSTZ-FM, WHO-AM
Sioux City -- KGLI-FM, KSFT-FM,
KSUX-FM
Spencer -- KICD-AM/FM
Fort Dodge -- KWMT-AM
Mason City -- KGLO-AM

PORK & BACKYARD BARBECUES...
The IPPA teamed up with WHO Radio to sponsor a backyard barbecue for one lucky WHO listener and 20 of her guests. Nadine Ludwig of Des Moines was treated to a backyard barbecue featuring Pork Chops on a Stick grilled and served by representatives of the IPPA. Nadine also won a patio table and chair set from Seasonal Concepts in Des Moines.

PORK PROMOTIONS IN THE STORES...

In recognition of HyVee's 75th anniversary, the IPPA, National Pork Board and Hormel Foods teamed up for a month-long pork promotion in May to kick off grilling season. The campaign included print ads, TV advertising, 75¢-off coupons and pork demos in 50 Iowa stores. The promotion was just one example of a great team effort!

The IPPA also partnered with the National Pork Board, Kingsford Charcoal and KC Masterpiece to offer HyVee shoppers a $2- off pork coupon as part of a Get Grilling America! campaign.
