In order to help Iowans recover from the damage left behind by the Aug. 10 derecho, utility companies called in many crews to help clear trees and re-establish power across many areas of the state. Loss of power meant that feeding those workers, along with other Iowans, became a big priority.
The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA), county pork groups, and pork industry businesses stepped in to help out, providing meals for both residents and utility crews working in some of the hardest-hit areas.
