On National Ag Day, March 23, we’re GIVING AWAY PORK LOINS to the first 1,300 households coming through the National Cattle Congress grounds. Details below.
It’s our way of saying “Thank You” for the support during the past 12 month, as the community lifted spirits and provided inspiration for Iowa’s pig farmers and all of those involved in pork production.
At a morning event, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will present the Ag Leader Award for Leadership in Community to the Iowa Food Bank Association (IFBA), headquartered in Waterloo. IFBA represents the six food banks operating across Iowa, which were integral in distributing meat donations to Iowans impacted by work reduction and job losses caused by COVID-19.
Also as part of the “Thank You” celebration, Iowa pig farmers will:
- Donate $1,000 to Northeast Iowa Food Bank, for its continued work to alleviate hunger.
- Provide pork coupons at local Fareway and Hy-Vee stores for consumers to use.
- Deliver pork thank-you baskets to local first responders.
