Italian Pork Burgers

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup salted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • 1 pound ground mild Italian sausage
  • 1½ pound ground pork
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup marinara sauce, warmed
  • Fresh basil, sliced
  1. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder and parsley.
  2. Brush the butter mixture onto the inside of each hamburger bun half.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium heat; toast the buns for 1 to 2 minutes and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the Italian sausage, ground pork and parmesan cheese. 
  5. Form eight large patties.
  6. Grill the patties on medium-high heat for 5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reads 160 F. Top each with a slice of mozzarella cheese.
  7. Build the burgers: bottom bun, cheese-topped patty, 1½ tablespoons warm marinara sauce, basil, top bun.
  8. Serve immediately.
