Iowan is America’s Pig Farmer Finalist

Josh Linde, Manilla, Iowa, is a finalist for 2019 America’s Pig Farmer.

Manilla, Iowa pig farmer Josh Linde is a finalist for the 2019 America’s Pig Farmer of the YearSM. The program honors a U.S. pig farmer who excels at raising pigs and is committed to sharing their farming story with the American public.

Linde concentrates on the We Care principles of food safety and caring for his pigs right. He raises his pigs in a stress-free environment. He owns and operates his own farm, which markets 9,600 pigs annually, and he works full-time for The Maschhoffs, a hog production company.

Linde is competing against three other farmers in other states. To help select the winner, the four finalists will meet with an expert panel of third-party judges in Chicago in August. The public can also be influential in the selection by voting for your favorite pig farmer; through Aug. 27, the public can vote once a day per email address.

The winner will be announced the week of Oct. 1 based on the judges’ scores and the online voting results.

The contest is sponsored by the National Pork Board.
