Pork producers are invited to a field day near them where information about a systems approach to manure management, water quality and soil health will be presented. Currently, four field days, each targeting a different watershed, are scheduled at the following locations and dates:
- Marathon, Aug. 21
- Sioux Center, Aug. 22
- Ainsworth, Sept. 6
- Renwick, Sept. 7
Each event begins at 9 a.m. and ends with a noon lunch sponsored by the Iowa Pork Producers Association. Topics being presented are:
- Farmer-led efforts to improve water quality – Iowa Agriculture Water Alliance
- New manure application techniques and cover crop research results – ISU
- Enhance conservation practices & programs – Iowa NRCS
- Nitrogen stabilizers at work with other soil health management and water quality practices – Corteva Agriscience
