Aaron and Trish Cook and the Buchanan County Pork Producers are hosting “an evening on a pig farm” on June 22 near Winthrop for an informal introduction to modern pork production. This free, invitation-only event includes:
- A pork dinner
- Tour of working pig barn
- Tour of just constructed, unpopulated pig barn
- Short program on pork production
- Conversation with local pig farmers
- Q&A

Time: 5:30 p.m.
You will arrive at the Cook farm near Winthrop. After a short introduction, you will be bused to a nearby hog site to see a pork finishing facility. Producers will describe the operation and answer questions. The tour will continue to a newly completed hog barn where you will enjoy a delicious pork dinner in the barn prepared by the Buchanan County Pork Producers. Local producers will present a short program, host tours of the barn and share information about the pork industry. You will then be bused back to the Cook farm to conclude your evening on a pig farm.
