This internship encourages college students to get involved in the pork industry and builds knowledge, experience, and connections to become young leaders in agricultural policy advocacy. As the Iowa Pork Congress Intern, you'll work directly with Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) staff to plan and facilitate the Iowa Pork Congress, which is one of the organization's signature annual events.
Who We Are
IPPA serves as a unified voice for Iowa's pork producers, made up of about 70 county associations and more than 4,000 affiliated and associate members statewide.
Internship Details
- Location: Iowa Pork Office – Clive, IA
- Time Commitment: Minimum 20 hours/week, approximately October 2026–January 2027 (includes the full week of January 18–21)
- Financial Assistance: $4,000 stipend + $2,500 scholarship paid directly to your college or institution
- Additional Info: No benefits or housing provided. Use of an IPPA vehicle is included; personal vehicle mileage and work-related expenses will be reimbursed.
What You'll Do
- Observe and participate in agricultural organization functions — committee meetings, staff meetings, and industry working groups
- Help plan, develop, and implement Iowa Pork Congress activities, including the Annual Meeting, Youth Contest, Taste, and Master Pork Awards Banquet
- Assist with on-site setup of the 2027 Iowa Pork Congress
- Collaborate with individual staff members on ongoing and new projects
- Take on other duties as assigned

Who Should Apply

- Iowa residents
- Full-time college students
- In good scholastic standing
- Passionate about agriculture, ideally the pork industry
Skills We're Looking For
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- An outgoing personality and comfort meeting new people
- Flexibility to work some nights and weeks
- Basic knowledge of the pork/livestock industry, or willingness to learn
